The Worthlessness of Criticism

 On Criticism How utterly worthless.  Particularly as we discover the subjective nature of reality.  Phenomenology shows that the object and viewer are inseparable. What does this mean? It means the critic is giving his/her opinion and that there is no objective truth. Art suffers under criticism. Basquiat and Van Gogh suffered under critics. Critics think they are God. Harold Bloom wrote that Mathew Arnold was not a good poet.  Mathew Arnold's poetry was good enough for Emerson. The hypocrisy. Bloom probably wanted to be a poet but became a critic instead and projected his "failure" onto Arnold.  This becomes criticism: projection of one's self-worth onto another.  If this be criticism, then why take it seriously? Yet, we do. We stay up all night waiting for the review. Artists, writers, composers. All waiting for approval from Dad.  Is what I am writing now a poem? Sure, it is. It is because I say it is.
